Abbie Chatfield is hosting a cheeky new reality dating show where three women will try to find a potential partner among a group of men – half of whom are self-proclaimed “nice guys” and the others, “f*** boys”.

The series, a Binge original, is titled FBoy Island, which is based off a successful US format.

It will see the trio of women date a host of male contestants, and they must figure out which ones are “F boys” who are just there to take home a cash prize, and which ones are genuinely there to find love.

The three women were announced on Thursday as occupational therapist Molly O’Halloran, 26, professional DJ Sophie Blackley, 26, and model Ziara Rae, 21. They all knew the concept of the show before applying.

When news.com.au visited the set early during filming, Ziara said Chatfield being involved was the main reason she signed up.

“I go by everything she stands for. She’s a strong feminist. She’s so open about sex and sexuality, and it made me feel really comfortable,” she said.

The show is definitely open about sex; there’s even genitalia themed decor.

Caroline Swift, head of entertainment at Warner Bros. in Australia, described FBoy Island as a “dramedy” or “parody of the genre”.

“We take ourselves quite seriously as producers like ‘we can’t bite the hand that feeds us’, we are biting the hand that feeds us and certainly Abbie is leaning into that massively,” she said.

“It’s pretty cooked in regards to its treatment and its use of humour … It’s going to have an MA rating.”

While the women said (at the time news.com.au was on set) most of the men had been polite and respectful so far, they were actually having trouble picking out the nice guys.

“I actually left the house this morning for my date and I was like ‘God, there’s only three guys on the nice guys list, we’re in trouble,’” laughed Sophie, who is originally from New Zealand and moved to Melbourne seven years ago.

“Our trust issues are going up every single time we spend more time with them,” Ziara added.

Sophie said she had a strategy to work out who was there just for the cash.

“One of my tactics is I ask a bunch of questions and then I'll go back at the next mixer and ask them again and obviously [see] if the answers match up,” she explained.

The questions included how long have they had been single for, whether they were friends with more women or men, and how often they expect to have sex in a relationship, among others.

Molly said she was there to “hopefully find love” but also call out bad behaviour.

“I’m not going to stand for s*** behaviour. We all deserve more than that,” she said.

“It feels nice when you call out an F Boy or eliminate them and they say ‘I’m an F Boy”, it’s a good feeling.”

The male contestants are still under wraps, but Ms Swift has revealed the type of men viewers can expect.

She said for the “F boys”, money was their clear motivation to be on the show and they were not interested in a long-term relationship.

During the casting she said she spent two months listening to “more sex stories than is good for a woman of my age”.

“One guy told us about being at work and one Thursday morning, [his] client was twins. He started banging them in the kitchen and his boss walked in,” she said, adding he made it through and was on the show.

When eliminated the “F boys” go to “Limbro”, which is said to look like a “tropical version of Alcatraz”. Chatfield will try to help “rehabilitate” them in comedic scenes in every episode.

The nice guys get looked after at “Nice Guy Grotto”.

They all come back for a penultimate episode to surprise the three women and their final two guys to “spill the tea”.

Ms Swift said letting them have a “snitch session” before the women have chosen their final men could sway decisions.

Fboy Island Australia will be available to stream on Binge, premiering May 29
