‘Nothing normal’ about life after mum’s death, says Georgia Love

JUST weeks after the tragic death of her mother, Bachelorette star Georgia Love has opened up about how she’s coping.

BACHELORETTE star Georgia Love opened up about the death of her mother on the AACTA Awards red carpet today, describing her life as lacking any normality since the tragedy.

Speaking to news.com.au, Love reflected on a year that’s seen intense personal highs and lows, often within days of each other.

Belinda Love, aged 60, died on October 29 after a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Her death came just days after her daughter declared she had fallen in love with Lee Elliott on the latest series of the reality show.

Love, who was flying solo for the awards with Elliott unable to attend due to work commitments, admitted that life had been tough since The Bachelorette finished.

“There’s absolutely nothing normal about my life anymore. Every part of my life is completely different to how it was seven months ago. Obviously, losing my mum has changed everything for me, but then also I’ve moved back to Melbourne from Tazzie ... I’ve left my job, so I don’t have permanent work, I’ve got a new partner ... It’s a whole lot of getting used to what is the new norm now,” she told news.com.au.

The newsreader-turned-reality star said she was hopeful 2017 would offer her more stability.

“I think to find a bit of normality in my life again would be great. Everything is up in the air at the moment, with family and everything, so now I’ve got my man by my side, I’m hoping that’s the foundation to make everything else fall into place,” she said.

Love said that her heart was “utterly broken” in an emotional Instagram post in the days following her mother’s death.

“(Seven) weeks ago we were sipping cocktails in Italy,” she posted at the time.

“(Seven) months ago you weren’t even sick. How is it possible you’re no longer here?

“Mum, you were my first friend and my best friend, my rock, the one who knew me better than anyone in the world and who supported and backed me through every single thing I did.

“You were the one I went to for advice, the one I shared every story with and the one who was always there to pick me up.

“There is so much more I need and want to share with you. I have no idea how to even begin to say goodbye.”

Love recently marked one month since her mother’s passing, sharing a photo on Instagram from before her death and noting that there’s “ nothing I wouldn’t give to go back.”
