Gold Logie nominee Rodger Corser will be hoping third time’s the charm — but the Doctor Doctor and Glitch star is staying coy about his chances at next month’s TV prize night.
While he may not get as much screen time as his rivals — Sunrise weather presenter, Sam Mac, Hard Quiz host Tom Gleeson, Gardening Australia guru Costa Georgiadis, and The Project’s Waleed Aly — Corser’s consistency and quality performances have kept him at the top of his game and a solid fan favourite — even if taking a bow is a little overwhelming for the humble leading man.
“Being in that company is better than not, but I find it very awkward asking people to vote for me,” he told News Corp Australia.
“It’s like I’m a reality TV person saying ‘please keep me on the island?’ It’s not really my thing.”
While Sam Mac and Tom Gleeson are fighting it out with comical campaigns, Corser believes this year may see luck be a lady on the night.
“I think Amanda [Keller] is on a couple of shows and got her radio program … she’s got a history of being so amazing for so long, she absolutely deserves one. I’d also love to see Waleed get it … he’s done some pretty incredible work and big, one-on-one interviews. I think they’ll fight it out and the rest of us are quite happy to just sit back and party early.”
But there’s the downside, he said
“You can’t really have a big drink because the cameras are always are on you,” Corser explained, adding: “that’s probably a good thing, because it is a long night and your wine glass is never empty on the table. You’ve got to keep yourself nice,” he joked.
* TV Week Logies will air Sunday, June 30 on Nine.
