Locky Gilbert’s confession stuns fellow SAS recruits

Bachelor and Survivor star Locky Gilbert raised plenty of eyebrows in camp after dropping a bombshell about his past behaviour.

Locky's stunning confession on SAS

Former Bachelor Locky Gilbert has stunned his fellow recruits and been labelled a “dark horse” on SAS Australia after making a stunning confession about his past.

Gilbert, 31 – who first made a name for himself on Survivor and Survivor: All Stars – was part of a group conversation about incarceration when he revealed he’d been “locked up a few f**king heap of times”.

Bachelor star Anna Heinrich then asked whether he’d ever been “convicted of anything”, to which he replied that he was “pretty sure” he had a “suspended conviction for trespassing for a base jump”.

“You’re a f**king dark horse!” fellow recruit Richard Buttrose told him.

Gilbert opened up about his brushes with the law.

During Monday night’s episode of SAS, Buttrose opened up about his own nine-year stint behind bars following his drug dealing conviction.

Hauled into the interrogation room, Buttrose – who was charged with supplying a “large commercial quantity” of cocaine – revealed he had been caught by police after a friend had “dobbed” him in.

He became emotional when he spoke about “losing everything” after his arrest, explaining that his then-wife, with whom he’d already shared a son, had given birth to their daughter two days after he was taken into custody.

Buttrose added that five years into his prison sentence, his wife sent him a letter announcing she was pregnant with another man’s child and wanted a divorce.

Reflecting on the man he used to be, he admitted it was “insane” and that he’d “got rid of that guy” on the day of his arrest.

Opening up about his motivation in appearing on SAS, Buttrose explained that he wanted “that last step at redemption”.

“People look at money and drugs and think of those shortcuts,” he said.

“I didn’t take any shortcuts in jail – I did the time. I didn’t rat on anyone, I just f**king took responsibility for everything I got caught with, pleaded guilty for everything I got caught with, and did the time.”

SAS Australia continues tonight at 7.30pm on Seven.
