JoJo Siwa has broken her silence on her split from Australian partner Kath Ebbs, confirming the non-binary content creator’s claims that she dumped them at the Celebrity Big Brother UK afterparty.

The American pop star spoke out on UK breakfast program This Morningwhen hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley straight up asked if she broke up with Ebbs during the wrap party last Friday night.

“I’ll be honest, that was not a plan,” Siwa, 21, admitted as she and housemate Chris Hughes appeared on the show to reflect on their time on the reality program.

“That was not an intention, that was not supposed to happen like that.”

Speaking candidly, Siwa said Ebbs – who uses they/them pronouns – had expressed no desire to attend the afterparty in London, only to change their mind before the event.

“Initially, I was told that the wrap party was something they didn’t want to attend and then about an hour into the wrap party they decided they wanted to,” Siwa shared.

Siwa said that she had wanted to discuss the state of their months-long relationship before the party but never got around to it. So when Ebbs asked her at the event if she was happy in their relationship, Siwa was forced to admit she was not.

“I was genuinely just going to have a conversation before and then it just led to another,” she recalled. “One thing led to another, and that conversation did take place there.”

Siwa, who spent 20 days inside the Big Brother house, says the experience changed her.

“I knew as soon as I got out I wanted to fix things in my life and make the changes that I needed to make. You have this experience that’s so exhilarating, it’s 20 days, but it feels like it’s four and a half years,” she told hosts Shephard and Deeley.

“And the first thing you want to do when you get out is just exactly what you need to do in your life to make it as good as you can.”

Siwa was also asked about her growing friendship with housemate Hughes, a UK reality TV personality who has described her as his “soulmate”.

The pair formed a tight bond during their time in the house, often exchanging cuddles and longing stares. Hughes also defended Siwa when housemate Mickey Rourke mocked her for being a lesbian.

“It’s just a really strong bond between two people, which is just a strong friendship,” Hughes said of their friendship on This Morning while sat next to Siwa.

“And I think you can have like a soulmate friendship. Having someone in there to go through an experience like that and have someone there every day when you’re emotional when you’re down when you’re happy – that was beautiful.”

The 32-year-old added that meeting Siwa was “probably my favourite thing I got from the whole show”, further fuelling talk that they are now dating.

When then asked about their future, Siwa replied: “I don’t know any future of anything. But I’m really grateful for our dynamic that we have and our bond that we have. And whatever life does, life will do.”

It was in a 13-minute TikTok video posted over the weekend that Ebbs revealed Siwa had dumped them at the star-studded wrap party, revealing they were blindsided by the break-up.

“I flew across the world to support and be there and hold that person in whatever they would be experiencing, leaving such a wild experience, and instead, I was dumped at the afterparty, with Chris in the next room,” Ebbs said in the since-deleted video.

“I was told that there are confused feelings there … and that she had realised in the house that I wasn’t the person that [she] wanted to spend the foreseeable future with, which has honestly been… so shocking, that I feel kind of subhuman right now. I feel incredibly humiliated and I feel a bit embarrassed.”
