THE numbers are in for The Conners — the spin-off to the Roseanne reboot without Roseanne Barr.
The number of viewers came nowhere close to the original Roseanne reboot figures, which saw 18.2 million people tune in to see what their favourite 90s family was up to.
The Conners premiered with a healthy 10.5 million viewers, which was 55 per cent down on the Roseanne premiere, but on par with the finale episode from last season which drew 1`0.3 million viewers.
The Conners was also able to attract more viewers than This is Us, one of the most popular shows in the US.
US network ABC sent out a release touting The Conners as “as TV’s top new comedy debut this season”.
The Conners picked up with the family dealing with Roseanne’s death from an opiod overdose.
Barr didn’t appreciate her character being killed off in such a way, saying it “lent an unnecessary grim and morbid dimension to an otherwise happy family show.”
The Roseanne reboot was axed after Barr made racist comments about Barack Obama-adviser Valerie Jarrett, comparing her to an ape.
ABC cancelled the show but the cast decided to carry on without Roseanne to try and keep the crew and writers in a job.
