Home and Away: Body in the bay revealed to be Bridie Carter’s character

One of Summer Bay’s most controversial characters has been found dead. And there’s a long list of suspects.

Ray Meagher, AKA Alf Stewart, says g'day to The Sunday Telegraph

Summer Bay fans are probably somewhat relieved that it was the conniving Susie McAllister who washed up in the Bay.

Rather than much-loved favourites Leah or Mac.

Susie McAllister (Bridie Carter) has been identified as the body who washed up in the Bay. But who killed her?

But now the attention turns to who killed Susie (Bridie Carter). And there are plenty of people with a motive.

JOHN

John (Shane Withington) thought he’d found love again with the con artist. He’d been so unlucky on dating sites. So he couldn’t quite believe that this gorgeous, clever, articulate, younger woman was interested in him. She supported his dreams and encouraged him to become Surf Club president. She moved in with him and he thought he’d found his true love. But it wasn’t the stuff of fairy tales, much more a nightmare. Susie just using him to get to his money. He’d ignored his friends such as Irene who’d smelt a rat. But worse than that Susie fleeced his friends too. John was completely humiliated. We know he’s been in contact with his ex-lover, hiding text messages from Leah and Stephen who were working with him to trap Susie. Did he see the con woman? Did he kill her?

LEAH

Leah’s (Ada Nicodemou) been a woman possessed since Susie fled town with her and Justin’s life savings. Susie convinced the pair she was a real estate agent and took their money as a deposit on their dream home. Leah’s scoured the internet and encountered Stephen who has also been burnt by Susie’s schemes. They’ve joined forces determined to make Susie pay. United by a common bond, the pair has become quite close. Justin’s not happy, adding a further wedge between the couple. Could Leah give up everything to have her retribution from Susie?

Justin

Justin’s (James Stewart) is already spiralling out of control with his painkiller addiction. He’s been pleading with Leah for weeks to let go of her obsession – they’ve already been through enough trauma. They just need to accept they’ve lost their life savings. But at least they still have each other. Stephen’s arrival in Summer Bay has sparked further insecurity. Justin doesn’t trust the stranger and it all came to a head this week as we see Justin arrested for the assault of Stephen. Could Justin’s out-of-control behaviour taken him one step further and led to murder?

Stephen (Bren Foster) has an axe to grind with Susie. Picture: SEVEN

STEPHEN

Stephen (Bren Foster) has been working closely with John and Leah to track down the criminal Susie. Leah came across him on an online forum and discovered he, too, had been burnt by Susie, losing a heap of money to the convincing woman. We don’t know much about Stephen. He seems like he’s on the same team as John and Leah, encouraging John to stop messaging Susie and to go to the police with the evidence. But could he have a real axe to grind? Is he the one who killed Susie and dumped her in the idyllic Bay?

Irene (Lynn McGranger) knew right away Susie was bad news. Picture: SEVEN

IRENE

Irene (Lynne McGranger) smelt a rat from the very first time she met Susie. She just knew she was too good to be true, And she desperately warned her best friend John. He dismissed her concerns, feeling that everyone thought he had just moved on too quickly from Marilyn. Irene joined them for dinner and wily Susie tried to poison Irene, dropping a drug into a wine glass. What Susie didn’t know was Irene was a recovering alcoholic, and John swilled the spiked drink, falling terribly ill. Not finished with Irene though, Susie knocked her out with chloroform after she confronted her as she was packing up to leave the Bay with money not just from John, Justin and Leah, but also the Surf Club. Irene’s best friends in the world are Leah and John – so perhaps she set out to confront Susie and it all went deathly wrong?

Marilyn (Emily Symons) couldn’t believe John had replaced her with the younger, glamorous Susie. Picture: SEVEN

MARILYN

Marilyn (Emily Symons) was stunned to discover Susie in her negligee in her ex-husband John’s house. Marilyn might have ended her marriage because she’d fallen out of love with John, but the last thing she expected was a much younger, glamorous replacement. She was super miffed and jealous that it didn’t take this upstart long to move in and fill her shoes. Marilyn also holds Justin and Leah close to her heart. Everybody loves each other in Summer Bay. So if an outsider does wrong by someone, they’ve done wrong by all of them. Has Marilyn gone a step too far to protect those she loves?
