Game of Thrones star Kit Harington teases fans on fate of Jon Snow

GAME of Thrones star Kit Harington is weighing up his character’s chances of surviving the blood-soaked season’s finale.

AS Game of Thrones blasts its way towards the end of its fourth, blood-soaked season, the Wildlings are on their way to the Wall. And nobody’s really listening to Jon Snow. Actor Kit Harington ponders his character’s future in our Q&A.

Kit Harrington says he can’t reveal if his <i>Game of Thrones </i>character Jon Snow survives season 4.

You’ve just played Milo, a slave-turned-gladiator in the movie Pompeii, and you’ve been playing Jon Snow in Game of Thrones for four seasons. Do you yearn for a role that shoots you into the future with maybe a space ship or a time machine?

I need to work my way into a role in this century before I go into the next. I’ve done a lot of period stuff and I’ve enjoyed doing it, but my next two roles are a bit more recent. One’s a World War I drama and the other’s set in modern-day London. It’s a spy thriller. I’ll drop the swords and pick up a gun to play a spy.

It’s not an easy path for Jon, is it?

This season he has this struggle. He is very much a leader of men. Things don’t get easier for him, but he just has to step up to the mark. For those that haven’t read the books I can’t reveal if Jon Snow survives season four … I could be out of a job right now (laughs).

Kit Harington says he doesn’t understand the regular line, “You know nothing Jon Snow”.

That infamous line, ‘You know nothing Jon Snow’ that your Wildling ex, Ygritte (Rose Leslie) used to spit at you is destined to follow you, and her, everywhere thanks to fans. Do you get sick of hearing it?

See, I still don’t know what it means (laughs). I don’t get it, ‘You know nothing, Jon Snow’, and everyone always says it to me and I’m like, ‘well, what does it even mean?’ It’s such a crap insult. It confuses me as much as it confused Jon Snow. He’s like, ‘What? What kind of insult is that? Of course I know things’. I remember when me and Rose first met she said, ‘There’s this line I say all the way through’ and I was like: ‘Yeah, it’s crap’.

If you weren’t playing the role of Jon and gender wasn’t a restriction, what other character would you love to play?

You know who I really like and is turning into a really interesting character: Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner). She quite often is typecast as this little weepy girl, and what Sophie brings to that role is great.

Kit Harington says fans think he’s taller that he actually is after watching him in the show.

How do fans react when they see Jon Snow in real life?

Mostly people think I’m a lot taller on screen than I actually am, which maybe disappoints them almost when they meet me. They hire smaller actors around me in this to make me look tall.
