Foxtel marks 10 years since the death of Heath Ledger with pop-up movie channel

HEATH Ledger’s father, Kim still feels his “beautiful boy” around him, 10 years after the actor’s shock death.
Accepting a GQ award recently for the scholarship started in his son’s name, the Perth businessman found himself choked with the same emotion he felt facing the VIP guests at the same event nine years earlier.
“That kind of memory,” he said, “doesn’t go away.”
Nor to Ledger’s remarkable body of films, to be celebrated by Foxtel in a special pop-up movie channel to mark the anniversary of his passing.
The diversity of the 17 films to be featured speak to the remarkable scope of his talent, ranging from rom com, 10 Things I Hate About You to The Dark Knight, a performance as the Joker which posthumously won him an Oscar.
The three-day event begins with 1999’s Two Hands and ends with this year’s documentary about his all too brief life and career in I Am Heath Ledger.
Mr Ledger, who established The Heath Ledger Scholarship to help further the careers of young Australian talent, has taken comfort some of his son’s generosity of artistic spirit lives on with each recipient.
“In an industry that’s so tough, so demanding and in some cases, so devastating [it was] the underlying kindness, assistance and help that Heath had given ... this award has gone a long way to mimic what Heath did.”
