Epic MAFS expert blowout viewers didn’t get to see
The latest season of Married At First Sight definitely brought the drama, but according to one former participant, one of the biggest blow-ups of the series never made it to air.

The women of Married At First Sight were given a stern lecture on their behaviour by the show’s experts during one of this season’s commitment ceremonies, one participant has said.
“We sort of got split into two groups, and us older women in our 30s really got served on what we were saying and the effects that it was possibly having on the younger females,” Jules Robinson told News Corp this week.

According to Robinson, the lecture came after participant Jessika Power said that she was suffering from social anxiety due to being questioned about her relationship with Mick Gould during one of the group girls’ nights.
Both Robinson and her now fiance, Cameron Merchant, became teary during the Sunday night commitment ceremony episode, something Robinson says can be attributed to the experts going so hard on her about her behaviour.

“At the time I felt really bad about it, of course we did. I’d never want anyone to feel that way, and Cam’s the same. He’s had his own battles with mental health and knows how hard it can be,” Robinson said.
“But what we didn’t know at the time was that Jess was already looking to leave Mick and had been chatting to other guys. So maybe our questioning her did make her anxious, but she was also doing the wrong thing at the same time and it’s just that no one knew that.”
Shortly after the confrontation, Power left Gould for another married participant within the experiment, Dan Webb. On Monday’s finale it was also revealed that just minutes before beginning a flirtation with Webb, Power had propositioned another contestant, Nic Jovanovic.

Earlier in the series the experts were widely criticised by MAFS fans for condemning the behaviour of Bronson Norrich but failing to call out what appeared to be emotional and verbal abuse by his partner, Ines Basic.
A petition to have one expert, Mel Schilling, fired from the show even received tens of thousands of signatures.
It was possibly that backlash, Robinson said, that led to the decision to not air the experts dressing down herself and other participants over their questioning of Power.
“It didn’t make it to air, and I’m actually pretty happy that it didn’t, to be honest.”
Now that the experiment is over, Robinson and Merchant are now busy planning a second (and legally binding) wedding.
