Seven’s new recruit Dr Chris Brown has another TV gig in the wings on top of his two new projects for the network.

Seven’s new recruit Dr Chris Brown has another hosting gig in the wings, with speculation mounting the popular presenter and TV vet will host Seven’s Logies red carpet coverage in his first role for the network.

While Seven is yet to confirm the rumours and announce a co-host to join him as the TV awards return to the network for the first time in 28 years, it has revealed the first two projects the much-loved vet will host when he officially starts in July.

Brown – who announced he would be farewelling the jungle and quitting Channel 10 in February – will head up reality renovation competition Dream Home and an as-yet-unnamed, new world adventure series.

Dream Home is an “inspiring new renovation competition where the great Australian dream is transformed into the great Australian dream home.”

There are few details yet on the adventure series – but it’s understood the opportunity to produce and host a new show was a key sweetener to lure Brown to Seven.

Brown said he was excited to combine his passions of exotic animals, adventure and travel .

“To be able to bring my world of animals to life in an original, adventurous and breathtaking way truly excites me,” Brown said.

“I can’t wait for the world’s wildlife and the search for Australia’s best Dream Home to land in our lounge rooms in 2024.”

The as-yet-untitled new series and Dream Home will go into production later this year.

It’s an almost back-to-the-future career move for Brown. He started his TV career in 2003 as presenter on Harry’s Practice on Seven, a role that earned him a Logie nomination for Most Popular New Talent.

‘I’m not entirely sure my old access pass works, but once we get over that hurdle and I’m back from the jungle, I can’t wait to sink my teeth into some exciting new projects in the second half of the year and beyond with Seven,’ Brown said earlier this year, after signing two-year contract worth more than $1 million a year.

His departure was a blow for Ten, who had used the popular TV presenter across multiple programs over the years, but especially for co-host Julia Morris who has been open about how deeply sad she is about losing her “beloved doctor”.

Morris and Brown became firm friends since the reality series launched in 2015. While no official announcement has been made about his replacement, it’s understood that Ten is currently undertaking chemistry testing potential candidates with Morris.

She has said they’re big shoes to fill and she has a few requirements.

‘’Number one: someone who isn’t a douche bag,” Morris said.

“Two: someone who’s really funny and an equal contributor of jokes, but not pushy.

“There’s a wonderful ebb and flow between us that’s taken years to build. At times, I’ve been a maniac on menopause and Chris has had to take a breath as we move through it.

“You can’t simply just move on to the next person.”
