‘Deeply disturbing’: Beauty and the Geek star forced to deny false murder speculation

The one-time winner of an Aussie reality TV show has been forced to address shocking untrue speculation involving an alleged murder.

A former Beauty and the Geek star has been forced to publicly deny any involvement in an alleged murder in South Australia after untrue rumours began to spread like wildfire on social media.

Kiera Johnstone took to Instagram on Monday to clarify that she has not been arrested contrary to speculation, and she is not involved in the alleged crime “in any way”.

The former reality star, who won the competition back in 2021, made a statement following reports a former reality contestant was charged with murder after the body of a man was found in a Port Lincoln home on Thursday.

The body was discovered after emergency services were called to a home at about 3.25pm local time after reports a small fire had broken out.

When crews arrived, they found a man dead inside the residence.

South Australia Police Assistant Commissioner Ian Parrott confirmed a woman is being held under a mental health order, and said it was not yet known how long the man had been dead before his body was discovered.

A suppression order preventing the publication of any information that could identify the woman, the victim, or the specific details surrounding the man’s death was issued after the discovery.

Following the news, Johnstone was forced to take to social media after rumours began to spread that linked her to the allegations.

In a lengthy message posted to her Instagram Stories, she hit back at the bizarre rumours and urged people to “stop spreading misinformation” about her.

“Hi everyone,” her statement began.

“Although no names have been released, for reasons beyond my understanding, there has been speculation online suggesting that I am involved.”

Jonstone continued: “Let me be absolutely clear: I am not involved in any way. I have not been charged with a crime. I have literally never even had a parking fine.

“The allegations being discussed have nothing to do with me, and the fact that I even need to say this is incredibly upsetting.”

She went on to call the speculation “deeply disturbing” and said she was stunned to see people “spreading false information” about her on social media.

Johnstone rose to fame as a contestant on Beauty and the Geek in 2021 when she was crowned the winner alongside her match Lachlan Mansell, with the pair walking away with $100,000.
