Exclusive: Deborah Hutton will make her long-awaited return to lifestyle television in a new “stickybeak” property series, Find Me A Beach House — to premiere next month on Foxtel.

After spending the better part of last year transforming her own coastal pad, on the clifftops overlooking Sydney’s Tamarama beach, the TV presenter will guide house-seekers in their own search for a home by the beach.

A star of the small screen since making her debut back in 1994 on Nine’s Looking Good program, Hutton says her late mentor and one-time life partner, Harry M Miller predicted she’d find her way back into this lifestyle space — before his death last July.

Planning his memorial in minute detail, Miller also encouraged Hutton to get her hand back into the design world where she has always felt was her “heart space.”

“He was always a big thinker and it was definitely part of his plan for me to find a vehicle that made my heart sing. I had spent most of last year was knock down and rebuild my house,” documenting the project in an online blog called Renovation Rookie.

“Having never done anything on a scale like that before it was amazing. I thought there would be plenty of people out there like me who have no idea either, so let’s all hold hands and do the journey together,” Hutton said.

In Find Me A Beach House, Hutton will hold the hands of potential buyers, showing them three properties per episode and taking the viewer inside each home for a “stickybeak.”

The production, which continues filming, will look at houses along the eastern seaboard — from as far north as Cairns to Melbourne’s stunning Mornington Peninsula.

It is the first major commissioning by Wendy Moore, Foxtel’s new general manager of its lifestyle brands.

Moore, who also appears as a judge on Seven’s House Rules, said “Lifestyle is such an inspiring portfolio — it has so much scope and potential, particularly for Australian produced content, and an audience that is so passionate about this content.”
She added: “Having Deb join the Lifestyle portfolio is very exciting. I have worked with Deb over many years and have always admired her professionalism, and I know Lifestyle is her personal passion.”
