Gold Logie winner Carrie Bickmore is making an unexpected return to the small screen this month with a surprise reality TV gig.
Bickmore, who farewelled Channel 10’s The Project in November after 13 years as host and has been off TV since, will join her best friend, brekkie radio host Fifi Box, and a host of other stars on a one-off special edition of Gogglebox Australia to help raise awareness for online youth mental health service ReachOut Australia.
“I already spend time on Fifi’s couch watching TV and chatting, so this really is the perfect gig for us,” Bickmore said.
While Box added she’d been in training for the gig for years.
“How could I pass up the opportunity to hang out on the couch with my mate Carrie and watch some great television,” Box said.
“I am thrilled to be joining the cast of Celebrity Gogglebox Australia.”
Joining Bickmore and Box on the couch are comedians Anne Edmonds and her partner Lloyd Langford, The Real Housewives of Sydney stars Krissy Marsh and Nicole O’Neil and Foxtel stablemates Great Australian Bake Off judge Darren Purchese and host Natalie Tran.
Returning as armchair critics are Australian wildlife warriors The Irwin family – Terri, Bindi and Robert Irwin, along with one of Australia’s favourite comedians Dave Hughes and his wife Holly Ife, comedy royalty Julia Morris and Nazeem Hussain will have adopted Aussie funnywoman Urzilla Carlson joining them. Mates tennis champion Dylan Alcott and MasterChef Australia judge Andy Allen, and entertaining couple Tim Campbell and Anthony Callea round out the stellar line-up of stars who will sit on their couches at home and offer their frank and funny assessments on everything from docos to dating dramas for the celeb version of the Logie-winning lifestyle show.
Campbell and Callea have jokingly credited their appearance last year with saving their marriage, telling Binge inside Sunday papers today, that usually they watch television in different rooms. So they’ve jumped at the chance to sit back together on their couch and offer their honest and hilarious takes – even if it means taking the mickey out of some of their real-life friends’ antics on screen.
