Brutal new MAFS twist ‘ends marriages on the spot’ as producers set to cop more backlash

It’s been the most controversial season of MAFS yet, and now an insider has revealed a “f**ked” final test that throws the show into chaos.

Honest and unfiltered: Jaimie gets real with Dave on MAFS

**MAFS spoilers follow**

This year’s Married At First Sight contestants are set to have some of their marriages end “on the spot” as they’re put through the show’s most brutal test ever.

It’s been revealed that the show will introduce a new controversial task dubbed “Is the Grass Greener on the Other Side?” in a dramatic upcoming episode.

The task sees each contestant presented with an envelope giving them the option of remaining committed to their current spouse, or meeting an entirely new “back-up” match chosen by the MAFS experts.

“The participants were asked if they wanted to meet their back-up… It was f***** up because even happy couples were strongly encouraged to explore their options,” an insider told Daily Mail. “This twist ruined marriages. Some couples ended things right then and there.”

The task allegedly began first thing in the morning, with couples separated and forced to make a decision without being able to consult their partners.

According to the insider, grooms Paul Antoine, Adrian Araouzou, Ryan Donnelly and Teejay Halkias all surrendered to the challenge and met their new match.

Brides Jamie Marinos, Awhina Rutene, Jacqueline Burfoot, and Beth Kelly all also agreed to meet their new suitor.

However, in a yet another brutal twist for Jamie, it’s alleged that her new match stood her up during their first meeting.

Surprisingly, while Jamie chose to meet her back-up, her ‘husband’ Dave, who has copped backlash for not sharing the same feelings as his on-screen wife, was one of the few who decided not to meet their back-up match.

The insider added that the shocking task proved the show has “totally given up on this being about love stories.”

Meanwhile, bride Jamie, who has become beloved by viewers, recently opened up about the raw pain of watching her relationship with Dave unravel on TV.

“It’s almost borderline torturous to have to sit and watch yourself have your heart broken. I’ve never had to do that before,” she told Daily Mail after Sunday’s heartbreaking dinner party.

“For me, my relationship with Dave was like being in a nightclub. And when this all hit me, it was like someone turned the lights on,” she explained.

“That beautiful nightclub that felt so VIP. Suddenly, you see the trash on the floor. That’s what it felt like to me. Someone turned the freaking lights on.”
