THERE’S lots to see from Queensland as the Down Under episode of Modern Family airs in Australia.

WHEN it comes to worldwide exposure from US megahit Modern Family, Queensland has drawn the long and, well, short, of it.

Airing tonight in Australia, the episode has showcased some of Australia’s best attractions, with scenes shot in Sydney and in Queensland’s Whitsundays.

Modern Family stars hit Queensland

While other parts of the Queensland coast were overlooked as a filming location, they were not completely forgotten.

The episode, which has already aired to a massive television audience in the US, features a scene at Bondi Beach with character Phil wearing a pair of boardies emblazoned with the names of iconic Queensland beaches, mainly on the Gold and Sunshine coasts.

They include: Currumbin, Kurrawa, Tallebudgera, Burleigh Heads, Coolangatta, Mermaid Beach, Noosa, Kawana, Dicky Beach, Southport, Northcliff, Peregian, Alexandra Headland, Tannum Sands and Emu Park are all visible on the distinctive red, white and blue shorts, which won’t win any fashion prizes, but could be worth their weight in gold to the Coasts’ tourism industries.

Especially if you happen to believe in subliminal messaging.

Tourism and Events Queensland and Qantas have been actively promoting the episode in a bid to entice more international tourists.

The exposure comes as up-and-coming Queensland talent appears in the episode in varying stages of undress.

We previously reported Gold Coast-born Marissa Wynne’s topless role, and Sunshine Coast actor Jye Williams also makes an appearande.

He said his time on set with the star-studded cast was like an afternoon at his Sunshine Coast home.

“Everyone was so great and lovely to work with, they were like a real family,” he said.

“I spoke to Sarah and Rico and Noland and they all said it is like their second family.”

The Queensland-born actor scored a speaking role as an Aussie love interest of the oldest Dunphy daughter, Hayley, in the locally filmed episode.

Having moved from Coolum Beach to Sydney to pursue acting and modelling, the 22-year-old was shocked after only a few weeks in town to land the hotly contested role.

Working closely with Sarah Hyland, who plays Hayley, was a surreal experience for the teenager.

“Sarah was really nice, she was lovely,” he said.

“When I had my scene with Sarah she helped out with what we should do.

“Just like the whole cast, she was loving her time in Australia.”

Photos of Williams and Hyland surfaced while the pair filmed in a New South Wales national park. Paparazzi caught the on-screen couple smiling, holding hands and cuddling during scenes in the bush.

“I was shooting in a national park and in a souvenir shop,” he said. “I can’t say too much, you will have to watch.”

It was the likeable Manny Delgardo, played by Rico Rodriguez, he was most excited to meet.

“I was stoked to meet everyone in the cast,” he said.

“Manny was great, I always have a good laugh at him.

“He is just as funny as he is on the show ... Sophia is just like her character in person too.”
