Despite a tumultuous season marred by changes to filming caused by COVID-19 restrictions, Channel 9 are looking to roll out singing contest The Voice again next year.
The show has commenced casting for Season 10 of the show, which would likely air in 2021. The casting website declares “the country’s number one music show is back for another season!” and asks wannabe artists to apply now.
It’s unclear at this stage what coaches will return for the new season, however since the show would be celebrating 10 seasons it’s highly likely Delta Goodrem will carry on considering she’s been part of the show from the very start.
It’s also believed that the 10th anniversary of the show gives producers a chance to either bring back past judges or contestants.
The opening of applications comes off the back of news this Sunday night’s Grand Final will not be live and has prerecorded. The four finalists recorded four alternative endings, with the public vote decided who takes home the crown.
With coaches Kelly Rowland and Boy George currently overseas because of lockdown restrictions, the showdown and finale episodes have been prerecorded so producers can edit out the satellite delay they experience when giving their critiques.
Meanwhile, for those on set, safety measures like temperature checks, regular cleaning of equipment and social distancing were also put in place so the show could go on.
The singing show is not the only reality show heading into a finale this week, with Masterchef and Big Brother both in the final stages of their competition. When it comes to ratings, Channel 10’s Masterchef has been the big winner and has come out on top.
