Actor Katrina Milosevic can’t quite get her head around this year’s Logies.
Aside from the overwhelming emotion of being nominated for an award, it will be a final opportunity to farewell the hit Foxtel TV drama that she has dedicated almost a decade of her life to.
Milosevic is up for the Silver Logie Most Outstanding Supporting Actress for playing Boomer on Wentworth – The Final Sentence, which aired its eighth and final season at the end of 2021.
“I am feeling quite emotional,” Milosevic told Confidential.
“The Logies are the first time we actually get to hug each other and see each other properly because we never got that as we were in lockdown when we finished. We couldn’t even hug each other goodbye.”
Milosevic is nominated against of Heather Mitchell for Love Me, Noni Hazlehurst in The End, New Gold Mountain’s Mabel Li and Total Control’s Rachel Griffiths.
“My first thought was they had made a mistake,” she said. “That says a lot about me. I haven’t processed it but I am absolutely chuffed. I feel very lucky.”
Wentworth was inspired by 1970s and 80s TV show, Prisoner, and broke ground for its raw portrayal of life inside female prison, Wentworth Correctional Centre.
The last couple of seasons were shot through Covid under strict safety protocol.
“In 2012 when we paid homage to Prisoner, you were rarely seeing a female led anything on television so it was kind of like, woah. What a perfect concept for a show. I just think it is the most brilliant concept to have a cauldron bubbling away with all of these personalities and lots to discover where nothing is ever black or white. That was the most amazing thing. What I think resonates so much with the audience is that they are seeing themselves a lot of the time.”
Wentworth is up for a total of three awards on Sunday when the Logies are held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre.
