Sydneysiders’ love for American sports is growing year on year and a manager at one of the eastern suburbs’ most popular pubs has taken notice of the “extreme” rise in local excitement.

“The pre-bookings this year have been huge,” Solotel General Manager Andrew Dallas told The Daily Telegraph, with The Golden Sheaf in Double Bay already at max capacity.

“I definitely think the Super Bowl is growing massively overseas and the rest of the world is catching up. Over the last few years, it’s only gotten bigger,” he said.

The venue manager said Sydney publicans are expecting hundreds of fans to rock up for wings and beers at breakfast-time tomorrow.

“It’s a good excuse to indulge on a Monday,” Dallas said.

Adding to the excitement is global pop star Taylor Swift’s expected attendance, to support her boyfriend and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

One of Dallas’ staff had put in a special request to add Taylor Swift costumes to the agenda, which he approved.

Queenslander Dave Faint, and his mates have made an annual tradition of the day.

“I’ve been living in Sydney for 10 years and I get a big group of Queenslanders together

to watch it together. We’re really looking forward to it,” the 32-year-old said.

“Everyone loves a bit of T Swift too, so there’ll be more atmosphere this year

“Australia gets around it heaps. Any Australian is pretty stoked for the excuse to have the day off. Now we can drag our girlfriends along so they can support Swifty too.”

Plenty of venues across the Harbour City are set to air the game and throw Super Bowl parties on Monday – this year, the event airs on the morning of February 12 (AEDT).

That means beer buckets and American eats (read: wings, wings and more wings) for breakfast. Time to file for a day of annual leave?
