NAVIGATING a family holiday and the Aussie paparazzi has been a challenge for the Beckhams.
Former soccer star David Beckham and his fashion designer wife Victoria have opened up to friends about the intense Aussie snappers.
The pair and three of their four children, Romeo, Cruz and Harper are in town for David’s commitments with the Invictus Games. A source close to the very private couple told Confidential the Australian paparazzi had been unforgiving.
“They find the local press worse than at home in the UK,” the insider said. “The paps have apparently been relentless since they arrived in Australia.
“Victoria is here to support David and to help look after their children. She has avoided public events because she finds the media here very aggressive.”
Over the weekend police were called to the home where the couple have been staying with their three children after a number of photographers were camped outside their home for several hours attempting to snap photos of the family.
David is said to have approached one photographer who pushed the father too far.
Protecting their children from the unavoidable attention of the couple’s fame is a priority for Posh and Becks.
At Saturday night’s Invictus Games closing ceremony (above), David was seen checking on his son Romeo who was the focus of attention throughout the televised event.
Victoria was reportedly very protective of her children when out in Sydney over the past week.
She was seen at the Barry’s Bootcamp gym with Cruz, at a local nail salon with Harper and also shopping in Woollahra during her time in Sydney.
Victoria is expected to head home in the coming days while David will stay in Australia for his work as an AIA ambassador.
He will meet 10 young soccer fans this week for an exclusive soccer skills clinic in Sydney.
