WITH his fingers cocked - these are the first glimpses of an actor playing a teenage "John Ibrahim" taunting police as filming for the third instalment of the Underbelly series got under way in Sydney yesterday.

The fictional "Ibrahim" character is played by Firass Dirani from The Combination.

Whether the Ibrahim family would be portrayed in the latest series of the Underbelly hit - Underbelly 3: The Golden Mile - has been the point of intense speculation after John's brother Fadi was shot this year. The fictional series also stars Hollywood actress Emma Booth, who will play prostitute and policewoman Kim Hollingsworth.

The Golden Mile chronicles the years between 1989 and the 1995 in Kings Cross.

The fictional "Ibrahim" is an influential character in the Golden Mile as he establishes himself as a key nightclub figure in 1990s Kings Cross.
