Top male model hits back over ‘bad boy’ label

JORDAN Barrett is the most famous male model in the world, but the Australian hunk is adamant that away from the glitz and glamour he is not what people would expect.

JORDAN Barrett is the most famous male model in the world, but he is adamant that away from the glitz and glamour he is just a 21-year-old guy from Down Under.

Sitting down with Confidential, Barrett dismissed the suggestion that he is the party boy who is open splashed across glossy tabloid with “it” girls like Bella Hadid and Lara Stone.

“I am a 21-year-old kid at the end of the day. I am just working hard and making the most of the opportunities that come my way, but I am still the same kid,” Barrett said.

“I don’t really read (the gossip magazines) them anymore. None of that really matters.”

Barrett spoke to Confidential during a week off which he spent hanging out with friends including Cheyenne Tozzi — and her Afghan hounds which he admits to falling in love with — and visiting his family on the Gold Coast.

“When I found out I had the week off, the first place I wanted to come was home,” he said.

“I come home twice a year usually. Anything which will bring me home I take the opportunity if I can. But this time has been the first time in ages when I have been able to come home for a holiday which has been nice.”

Having recently dropped IMG to sign with KULT models in Sydney, Barrett has taken a more businesslike approach to his career. On top of changing agents, the model has hired a business manager who has already helped negotiate a number of high profile collaborations.

“It all started happening very fast, and it has been pretty unreal. I never planned on being a model, it just all started happening,” he said.

“It has opened a lot of doors. You learn as you go.

“I am doing collaborations. Working with brands who I would normally model for on collaborations.”

The genetically-blessed Barrett will also venture into the humanitarian field this year, with a commitment to the Elephant Crisis Fund.

Barrett will head to Kenya in the next few months to work on the ground. He also expects to be back in Australia for work in the not to distant future after attending the Met Ball and Cannes Film Festival.
