Toby Rudolf plans to shave his whole body for charity

He had some the most luscious locks in the NRL, and now a new-look Toby Rudolf has revealed he wanted to alter his look further, but was stopped by his club for an interesting reason.

After shaving his long locks in The World’s Greatest Shave, rugby league star Toby Rudolf has vowed to go the whole hog.

The 27-year-old set a series of targets for what hair he would cut based on the amount of money he raised for The Leukaemia Foundation’s annual fundraiser.

He set $10,000 for his hair, $15,000 for his hair and beard, $20,000 for hair, beard and eyebrows and $30,000 for every other hair on his body.

On Wednesday, The Cronulla Sharks player cut his long hair and beard but held off on the eyebrows.

“The performance staff at the Sharks actually said I wasn’t allowed to shave off my eyebrows at this point in time purely because when you play, you sweat, and the sweat will go directly into your eye balls,” he explained on the Confidential on Nova radio show on Sunday.

“I have to wait until our first bye in three weeks time until I do the eyebrows.”

Some two million Australians have participated in the 25 years of The World’s Greatest Shave.

Rudolf joins a long list of Sharks players to have shaved their heads for the cause. Others to have participated include Sione Katoa, Sifa Talakai and Royce Hunt.

Rudolf is a rising star of the game, known for his impressive on-field play but also for speaking up on issues important to him.

During the infamous Manly pride jersey saga, he spoke up for the queer community.

At the time, Rudolf said he identified as heterosexual but explained “sexuality is fluid” and that he had “kissed many gay men”.

“I wanted to support the LGBTIQ+ community that was sort of getting run into the dirt a bit with what was going on with the whole saga,” he said.

“There are members of my family that are gay, lesbian, queer and the rest of it.”

Asked about his own sexuality, he told the Nova radio show hosted by Confidential’s J.Mo and Angie Kent “I unfortunately identify as straight, it is very boring of me”.

“I heard of this thing, semi-bisexual, I don’t know if it is real or not but it is where you are bisexual but you are only attracted to one sex. Pashing dudes is definitely a passion of mine.”
