They’re back.
After smashing the ratings with a revamped format and new look, all four coaches on The Voice will return in 2022.
Despite some speculation Rita Ora wouldn’t come back, the British pop singer will join Guy Sebastian, Keith Urban and Jessica Mauboy when the reality singing show returns next year.
“I absolutely love Australia, and it’s a privilege to be part of such a life-changing show,” Ora said. “The phenomenal artists this year blew my mind, especially Team Rita. The other coaches are like extended family and I’m really looking forward to getting back together to discover the next The Voice superstar.”
The announcement comes days out from Seven unveiling its programming slate for the next year.
Bella Taylor Smith on Team Guy won the 2021 series, which proved a huge ratings hit for Channel 7 after the network nabbed the format from rival Nine.
Ironically at the time, Nine executives said the format was “the poorest financial performer on our slate”.
On returning, Sebastian said: “Last season was one of the best times I’ve ever had making television.
“The vibe was great, the fun was real and, yet again, we uncovered some insane Aussie talent. I can’t wait to be back again next season with Keith, Rita, Jess and the incredible team of producers and musicians to make some more magic happen.”
Urban meanwhile said he was “coming to play” while Mauboy praised her fellow coaches after her first hit out as a judge on a reality show.
Sonia Kruger will again return as host of the singing competition, which will see the winner secure $100,000 cash and a recording contract.
