Giumelli and partner, Rabbitohs star Tom Burgess have revealed they are pregnant and will welcome a sibling for daughter Sophie, one, before the year is out. The two kept the happy news close to their chest, only announcing on Instagram after they’d passed the halfway point.
But keeping the secret didn’t stop Giumelli from starring in an underwear campaign for Bras N Things’ online catalogue when she was three months pregnant.
“Bras N Things were so supportive of me and my changing body caused by both pregnancy and lockdown,” Giumelli told Sydney Confidential. “They are open to diverse body shapes and sizes.”
Despite suffering from severe morning sickness which left her hospitalised, the Miss Universe finalist wanted to work with the brand because of their strong body empowerment values. The partner of Rabbitohs star explained when she worked with them after giving birth to Sophie they asked if she would be comfortable not having her stretch marks edited out of the photos. “We share all the same values and I was so happy to work with them again,” she said.
Unlike their first child, this pregnancy for planned. “Tom is a twin, so we knew we wanted our kids to be close in age,” Giumelli said. “He’s already talking about a third!”
The 28-year-old added being pregnant during lockdown has come with many advantages. With Burgess being grounded because of Covid, he’s been around the house to help. “I spent a while bed ridden, so Tom has been a full-time Dad, a nurse, a cook,” she says. “And this baby will be born in the off season too which means I’ll have an extra set of hands around too.”
