Survivor Australia 2021: How model Shannon Lawson found her tribe

Shannon Lawson – one of the contestants competing on the latest season of Survivor Australia – says she combines brain and brawn with a little beauty on top.

Shannon Lawson is used to people making assumptions about her.

The 30-year-old model and boxing instructor said: “I have to battle the model stereotype on a day-to-day basis”.

“I am pretty resilient. It has been a long decade of doing this so come at me. Being a model I am constantly facing rejection and tough feedback so there is nothing that I can’t do and I feel pretty strong within my own skin.”

Lawson is one of 24 contestants set to compete on Survivor Australia: Brains v Brawn when the reality show premieres on Channel 10 tonight.

The tribes are split into two groups based on traditional physicality and mental strength.

While producers have put Lawson in the Brawn tribe, Lawson said she could easily sit in either.

“I earnt my spot on that Brawn tribe for sure,” she said.

“I like to think of myself as the hybrid of the brain and the brawn in the game of Survivor with a little beauty sprinkled on top I guess.”

As a model, Lawson is represented by Scoop Management and is regarded one of our top commercial faces. She has walked in Miami Swim Week abroad and shot for the likes of Seafolly, Rockwear, Minkpink and Running Bare.

She has 155,000 followers on Instagram and is also an instructor at Hustle Boxing in Sydney.

“Modelling is just a job and when you take off all of the hair and the glam and the outfits, you see me underneath and I do classify myself as a survivor,” Lawson said.

“I’ve got past family trauma and being in the industry that I am in, I am a tough cookie. I wanted to challenge myself in the toughest game that there is.”
