Seafood on speed dial — now that is something Confidential could get used to.

We’ve long had groceries and booze delivered to our door but sashimi, prawns, oysters and Patagonian toothfish are food items you want to be careful with.

That’s where Sydney’s Winston and Janice Tu step in with new seafood delivery service, FishMe!

The business was born out of the first round of Covid lockdown in 2020 when shops were closed and demand was high. Tu, who runs online furniture company Luxo Living, initially started out with a WhatsApp group among friends.

“I have eaten seafood my whole life,” Tu explains.

“During lockdown we started buying more seafood because we couldn’t go out and then we were buying it with friends so like 50kg of lobster, not just the usual small quantities. It started as a group buying thing on WhatsApp. We looked for wholesalers and farmers because of our quantity of buying.”

Tu sources the seafood direct from a network of suppliers. It means those not keen to brave the infamous long queues at the local fish market in the lead-up to Christmas have another option.

“We have to make sure it is fresh,” he says. The convenience of home  delivery is a big thing these days.”
