Craig David has given up his obsession with six-packs and fitness, instead focusing on “feeling healthy”.

“I am all about keeping myself as healthy as I possibly can,” he said.

“At certain points in my life I was pushing for aesthetics and I’ve realised that to sustain a healthy lifestyle, especially being on the road … is more important than if you are rocking a six-pack or not.”

David, 38, is in Australia to perform at the Electric Gardens music festival at Centennial Park on Saturday, alongside artists including Armand van Helden, Alan Fitzpatrick and Ann Clue.

The 7 Days, Fill Me In and Walking Away hit maker was living in Miami when he became obsessed with obtaining a ripped body.

“It was very body-conscious in Miami and you very easily slip into that mode,” he said.

David, now living back in his native UK, is single but believes he will one day find the right person.

“I am all about divine timing,” he said. “So when it is right, it will click.”
