Ali Oetjen has called time on her SAS Australia journey after dropping a bombshell about her ex-boyfriend.

The Bachelorette star broke down to tears as she pulled out of the controversial reality show, refusing to jump out of a helicopter into freezing cold water.

Oetjen’s departure makes her the seventh celebrity to quit the show after the exit of Eden Dally and Shayna Jack on Monday night’s episode.

“I have achieved a sense of feeling so proud of myself that I pushed myself to the limits that I didn’t even know that I had,” the 34-year-old said. “It has just taught me so much. I feel like all of that pain and the suffering and the growth that I have had is absolutely immeasurable.”

Oetjen said she took part in SAS Australia to distance herself from being “a reality TV girl”.

She had previously appeared as a contestant on The Bachelor, The Bachelorette and Bachelor In Paradise.

In an explosive interrogation scene on Monday, Oetjen discussed the breakdown of her relationship with Bachelorette beau Taite Radley, indicating they separated because they “didn’t want the same things”.

“I still think he is my soulmate but our timelines are different,” she said. “I kind of feel a bit empty. It’s very recent. I’m going up to my parents to live for a while, to find my feet.

Abandonment and rejection is a big thing for me, I’m very protective of myself, that fear or being hurt deep down, you just have to go thru it mentally yourself, and that’s what I want to get from this, where I can be so drilled into the ground mentally and physically and get thru it.”

Before quitting, Oetjen explained that anxiety had been an issue for her.

“I have hyperventilated before. I have had panic attacks before, maybe that is what my body does when it all gets too much,” she explained. “My biggest fear is probably letting people down.”

Among those still competing on the reality show, where celebrities are put through their paces in an SAS training course, are Jackson Warne, Candice Warner, James Magnussen, Erin McNaught, Sabrina Frederick and Merrick Watts.
