SAMANTHA Armytage is still on cloud nine following her recent engagement to wealthy businessman Richard Lavender.
The beaming Sunrise co-host flashed her diamond ring on Instagram last week as she announced that Lavender, 60, had popped the question and one jewellery expert estimates the eye-catching sparkler may have cost upwards of $35,000.
“It looks like a cushion cut, pillow-shaped ring with 1.5-2 carats,” Aris Arzumanian from Arman’s Fine Jewellery told Confidential. “It could be worth at least $35,000.”
Confidential has contacted Armytage for comment.
The Channel 7 star began dating the divorced father-of-two around Easter last year, after meeting through a mutual friend.
“His eyes were the first thing I saw,” Armytage, 43, previously told Who magazine. “There was a connection [immediately].”
The couple split their time between her Sydney home and his sprawling Southern Highlands property.
They are yet to set a wedding date.
“They haven’t set a date yet,” a friend told the Daily Telegraph. “They just want to enjoy this happy time first.”
Lavender is understood to have proposed at his country home a few weeks ago with the couple keeping the news a secret until they told close family and friends.
