Roberta Williams: I‘m not the monster I’m made out to be

The ex-wife of crime figure Carl Williams is staging her live event — Roberta Williams Live — bringing together true crime and the spirit world for a night billed as not to be missed.

Roberta Williams: The gangland 'godmother'

The ex-wife of crime figure Carl Williams has invited fans to “get up close and personal” for an evening with Roberta Williams.

And to be clear, the mother of five will not be profiting from the upcoming event with proceeds going to an autism charity.

The first event — Roberta Williams Live — will be held at Melbourne’s Essendon Masonic Centre on April 19, marking the anniversary of her late husband’s death in Barwon Prison in 2010.

Plans are under way for similar events across Victoria with Williams not able to leave the state as she is on bail over assault charges.

“We would like to go national with this,” Williams told Confidential. “But we have to wait until my court stuff is sorted, which will hopefully be soon.”

Tickets are for sale online via Eventbrite at $50 for general admission and $100 for meet and greet.

“It’s been 10 years since gangland identity Carl Williams became the final victim in Melbourne’s Gangland War — now, for the first time ever, you can hear his widow, Roberta Williams, speak live about her life, with and without Carl,” the website reads.

“Alongside her friend,Michelle Douglas (clairvoyant/psychic medium), they will give a first-hand account of how they crossed paths, what messages the spirit world had for Roberta and whether or not there are messages ready for our audience members. So if you have an interest in true crime, the spirit world, or you are just curious about what Roberta Williams is actually like in person … then you don’t want to miss this event.”

Asked what inspired the event, Williams said she wanted to “make a positive out of the negative of his murder”.

“There are a lot of things about Carl’s death that remain unknown to the public,” she said. “A lot of things were covered up and not talked about from his death and so if the police or others aren’t going to talk about it, I will.

“The public has this misconception of me that I really want to set straight as well. I am a grandmother, I am a mum, a sister, an aunty and a friend to many. I am certainly not the monster I have been made out to be.”
