A teary-eyed Ray Hadley has waved goodbye to a 43-year radio run, surrounded by family, co-workers, and friends.
At 12pm, the radio stalwart walked out of the studio for the final time, and was immediately embraced by a guard of honour made up of co-workers and family.
The cheering onlookers wore t-shirts emblazoned with a dictionary definition. “Ray Hadley. Noun. A Radio Legend.”
There was no one more excited to see the radio legend than his six grandchildren, who flocked their beloved “Poppy”, clinging to him.
Hadley’s daughter, Sarah Hadley, burst into tears during Hadley’s farewell.
“I just wanted to say something quickly because I always have to say something,” Ms Hadley said.
“It’s kind of an end of an era for me because I grew up in this building with you and coming to work with you as a little girl.
“I just felt so much love from everyone, and especially you, and seeing you and everyone congratulate you, I’m just so proud.”
“I can’t believe I got you as a dad, I’m so lucky to not only have you as a dad but as a pop,” she said.
