Ray Hadley admits he looks like “an imbecile” after getting a quasi-mullet cut for charity yesterday.
The 2GB host raised more than $30,000 for The Black Dog Institute’s Mullet’s for Mental Health campaign after taking up the challenge from his Nine Radio colleague Ben Fordham.
While Hadley admits his new do isn’t in the vain of Billy Ray Cyrus’ iconic mullet, he said it is “very short at the side and very high at the top.”
“They say it’s two weeks between a good and a bad haircut, my case it will be about six weeks,” he said.
Hadley, who had a mullet in the 70s, was willing to get the haircut again to hope raise money and awareness about mental health. “We’ve all been impacted by mental health. Every family, including mine,” he said.
On 2GB this morning, he shared his thought on his new do with host Ben Fordham.
“I’ve had a lot of bad haircuts in my day, I’ve had a number one, a number two, when I was a child I had a crewcut and I think I’ve had what used to be called a Prince Charles cut when I was a young man,” he said.
“Mums had a crack at my hair when I was a kid as well and chopped pieces out of it, my great Uncle Jack he had a pair of clippers and gave me a haircut.
“But I’d say this usurps all of that. This goes past great Uncle Jack, Mum, every other dud barber I’ve ever had.”
