The VIPs who hold the infamous Chargrill Charlie’s Black Card and the perks it gives them has had Sydneysiders intrigued for years and now it can be revealed that regular customers might get access to this famous club.
Celebrities Ben Fordham, Kyle Sandilands, Roxy Jacenko are all famous holders of the Chargrill Charlie Black card which gives the recipient free chicken, chips and salad daily.
Now after the famed chicken shop was bought by Craveable Brands, which owns retail franchises Oporto and Red Rooster, a source told Kitchen Confidential the card may be available to regular customers.
While no regular customer currently holds the black card, a source within the company said: “Never say never”
“We do know that the Chargrill Charlie’s team are being very generous through their app for loyal customers.”
It’s understood that card allows the holder upwards of $50 worth of food per day, which can be ordered online or in store.
Those ordering online are given a unique code which is reset everyday so as not to get shared around.
It’s said Hugh Jackman, Guy Sebastian, David Warner and Delta Goodrem all hold the VIP card.
“Yes, it’s only for a select few very lucky A-listers,” the source said.
“The Chargrill Charlie’s team selects who they give the Black Cards to from celebrities or VIPs.
“The team at Chargrill Charlie’s select Black Card members very carefully. The Chargrill Charlie’s team assesses requests on a case-by-case basis and provides Black Cards to suitable celebrities or VIPs.”
The fast food restaurant has fans in Chris Hemsworth and Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, who have both been pictured dining at an outpost.
In May, it was announced that private equity company PAG Asia Capital’s Craveable Brands arm had bought the family run business which started with one restaurant in Coogee in 1989 and now included 19 restaurants.
While the majority of the restaurants are in Sydney, the plan is to grown the brand and have outposts in each state.
Chargrill Charlie’s co-owners, Maon Sher and Saul Sher, said the sale marks a new chapter not only for the brand, but for the family.
