NICOLE Kidman might be one of the world’s most glamorous women but her good looks appear to have been all-but destroyed for her next film.

On the same day she received a Golden Globe nomination for her stunning role in TV series Big Little Lies, Kidman was pictured looking unrecognisably withdrawn and gaunt on the set of The Destroyer, shooting in the California desert.

Sporting a cropped brunette wig, dirty cheekbones and an oversized leather jacket, Kidman’s scruffy appearance was a far cry from the statuesque red carpet regular, who also won an Emmy for her role in the HBO hit based on Australian author Liane Moriarty’s best-selling novel.

In The Destroyer, the 50-year-old plays police detective Erin Bell who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang, with tragic results. When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must confront the demons that destroyed her past.

The crime thriller will be produced by Fred Berger, whose smash hit film La La Land won six Oscars earlier this year.

“Nicole is at the top of her game — doing tremendously exciting work,” Berger said.

Kidman’s singer husband Keith Urban was among the first to congratulate his wife on her Globe nomination, as well as that for Foxtel’s Top Of The Lake: China Girl, in which she also starred.

“Hey baby — CONGRATULATIONS on all the GLOBES love this morn!!!!!!.” Urban tweeted. “Incredibly proud of you.”
