From beauty queen to business mogul, Kyly Clarke has worn many hats throughout her career. Now, she’s embracing a new chapter, branding it as ‘Kylie 2.50’ — a nod to her versatility and entrepreneurial spirit.
Clarke’s business journey includes stints in modelling, beauty therapy, candle creating, television presenting, interior design and art.
Now the mother-of-one is returning to her roots as an actor, marking a full-circle moment in her multifaceted career.
Her journey as an actor began at the age of eight when she appeared in her first commercial. Now, 35 years on, she has signed with one of the country’s top talent management agencies and is embracing acting once again.
“I started acting at a very young age,” Clarke told Sunday Confidential.
“I was with John Gibson’s agency when I was eight years old and I did a commercial called the Milky Bar kid, and have done many TV commercials since.
“I’m currently attending Toni Higginbotham’s master classes and workshops, I studied at the Australian Theatre for Young People and I’ve recently signed with Chic Talent Management.”
The 43-year-old is eager to explore any role that allows her to tell a compelling story and spark her creativity.
“Funnily enough I was one of the casting director’s ‘options’ for the reporter role in the feature film I Know What you did Last Summer,” she said.
“I would love to work on both Australian and international productions. I would love to appear in a feature film. It would be great to work on the set of NCIS Sydney. Or even those Christmas movies which come out of Canada. I am leaving the door completely wide open to all opportunities.”
Clarke, who is mum to 10-year-old Kelsey Lee, the daughter she shares with her ex-husband Michael Clarke, says now is the right time to re-enter the entertainment industry.
“I really think over the last five years, I’ve put Kelsey Lee first,” she said.
“I think that those younger years are in a child’s life are paramount and you know that’s when they’re a sponge, and I will always still put Kelsey Lee first, but now is the right time for me to get back into it.”
“I have so much love experience behind me. I have loved, I’ve rebuilt, I’ve become a mother. That all shows up on screen. It brings truth and emotional honesty.
“I do feel like I’m where I’m meant to be.”
