Kyle Sandilands suspended over Magda concentration camp slur

KYLE Sandilands has been suspended again by 2DayFM over offensive remarks that Magda Szubanski could lose weight by being in a concentration camp.

KYLE Sandilands has been suspended again by his radio station 2DayFM over offensive remarks that actress Magda Szubanski could lose weight by being in a concentration camp.

The remarks have created a furore among Jewish groups, offending survivors of the Holocaust and Sandilands will now be called into discussions with management about his future in radio.

In marked contrast to their slow reaction to his recent lie-detector scandal, 2Day FM's general manager Adam Lang confirmed Sandilands had been taken off air immediately in a statement this morning.

"2Day FM has suspended Kyle Sandilands following comments he made during The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Tuesday 8 September, 2009.

"The suspension will be in effect pending further discussions involving Kyle Sandilands and station management.

"2Day FM believes the comments made by Kyle were unacceptable and sincerely apologises and regrets any offence they caused.''

Sandilands is currently in Los Angeles, where he was during this week's broadcast in which he criticised Szubanski for not losing enough weight as the diet ambassador for Jenny Craig.

He said the Kath & Kim star was "not skinny enough'' despite losing 25 kilograms through the weight loss company program.

Outraging the Jewish community and offending Szubanski, Sandilands added: "put her in a concentration camp and watch the weight fall off.''

The insensitive remarks were met with howls of protest and new calls for the radio bad boy to be reprimanded, so soon after his role in the quizzing of a teenager in a live lie-detector stunt.

Last night, Sandilands apologised for the comments, claiming "it was not my intention to upset anyone.''

An Austereo spokeswoman declined to comment on whether Sandilands and his co-host Jackie O had been officially warned by management that repeat offences on-air would result in further disciplinary action.

In contract to the lie-detector scandal, Austereo has forced their breakfast star off air after he sidelined himself in the wake of community outrage over the stunt gone wrong.

It is unclear whether he will be required to return to Sydney to answer his bosses or discuss his future via phone long distance.
