KIIS FM radio host Kyle Sandilands stormed off his own show on Wednesday morning after a dispute with his co-hosts over the leaked text in which former NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian called Scott Morrison a “horrible person”.
Sandilands labelled his co-hosts Jackie ‘O’ Henderson and newsreader Brooklyn Ross an “idiot” and “*co**head” during a 12-minute rant on-air while claiming news of Berejiklian allegedly blasting the PM in the text message was not newsworthy.
“This is the biggest news in Australia and it’s all over nothing,” Sandilands said on the Kyle and Jackie O show.
“So what if the ex-Premier called the Prime Minister a horrible, horrible person? I’ve called everyone here an effing c in text messages.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Gladys was just pacifying whatever loser minister she was talking to ... this is not real news. Don’t make up fictitious bulls**t drama over nothing.”
Ms Berejiklian has said that she has “no recollection” of the text messages.
“I’m angry. This is the way the world has been ruined, by d***heads on the news turning these things into bulls*** moments,” Sandilands fumed.
As Ross and Henderson tried to respond, Sandilands grew more agitated.
“Turn your mic off co**head, you’re finished. Get out!” Sandilands told Ross.
“Are you serious?” Henderson asked.
“Yes I’m serious,” he replied.
“What are you...I don’t understand,” Henderson said.
Sandilands replied: “You don’t need to understand, what you need to do is just listen instead of trying to come up with arguments all the time ... I’m just saying, no one’s seen [the texts]. Even if it’s true, it doesn’t mean Gladys thinks he’s horrible.”
When Henderson tried to diffuse the situation, Sandilands stormed off the show.
“I’m going, f***ing idiot! Do the show by yourself, what a f***ing show it will be.”
Confidential has contacted KIIS for comment.
It comes after Channel 10 political editor and panellist on The Project, Peter van Onselen, confronted Mr. Morrison with the bombshell text messages at the National Press Club on Tuesday.
The alleged text exchange was between Berejiklian and an, as yet unidentified, senior minister.
“In one she describes you as, ‘a horrible, horrible person,’ going on to say she did not trust you and you’re more concerned with politics than people,” van Onselen said.
“The Minister is even more scathing, describing you as a ‘fraud’ and ‘a complete psycho’. Does this exchange surprise you? And what do you think that it tells us?”
Mr Morrison brushed off the texts.
“I don’t know who you’re referring to or the basis of what you’ve put to me,” he said. “But I obviously don’t agree with it and I don’t think that is my record.”
