KING Kyle has lost his crown. For the first time in three years, Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O have lost their number one ranking on FM breakfast radio in Sydney — to WSFM’s Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones and Amanda Keller.

It is a major blow for Sandilands, whose KIIS FM show fell 1.7 percentage points to 9.3 per cent of the market in the year’s fifth radio ratings survey, behind ARN stablemate Jonesy and Amandas’ 10.3 per cent.

“Kyle and Jackie O’s biggest problem is that their colleagues down the corridor, Jonesy and Amanda, are so good,” Mediaweek editor James Manning said.

Alan Jones kept his title as the true king of breakfast radio with 16.1 per cent, and Ray Hadley share improved to 19 per cent, giving 2GB a total share of 14.1 per cent of the market in the morning.

It was a good survey for WSFM, which placed second overall in Sydney with a share of 11.3 per cent, an increase of 0.6 percentage points, followed by SmoothFM at 9.6 per cent, Nova at 7.8 per cent and the ABC at 7.8 per cent.
