TODAY host Karl Stefanovic has taken a jab at KIIS FM shock jock Kyle Sandilands after Sandilands read out a personal text message about his love life with Jasmine Yarbrough on live radio.
The 43-year-old, who separated with Cassandra Thornburn after 21 years of marriage, made headlines in a women’s magazine claiming that he was expecting a child with Yarbrough, despite having the snip.
When Sandilands left Stefanovic a voicemail message to verify if the rumours were true, the Channel 9 breakfast star responded with a text message.
According to Sandilands, 46, the text said: “Another load of s**t from Woman’s Day. Pretty hard to get preggers when you’re shooting blanks.”
He read it out to his listeners on his hit radio show, which maintained its number one FM spot in the latest survey results.
But Stefanovic wasn’t happy.
“Our personal messages end up on your bloody show,” he said.
“I can never trust you Kyle Sandilands.”
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Telegraph this week, Stefanovic’s representative slammed Woman’s Day for its report on Monday
The publication reported that Yarbrough, 33, was “believed to be pregnant” and had her bump on display at the Derby Day races in Melbourne.
The magazine also put the story on the cover, declaring the shoe designer is “pregnant already” and Stefanovic’s ex wife Cassandra Thorburn had known ”for weeks.”
However when approached to comment about the article, Stefanovic’s manager Sharon Finnigan blasted the reports, calling them “absolute bulls***.”
Speaking on behalf of Stefanovic and Yarbrough, Finnigan said the couple were “disgusted” and “offended” by what had been printed.
“For 12 months this magazine has printed untrue stories about Karl and Jasmine and this is just another one of them,” Finnigan, who usually declines to comment, said.
“We are disgusted at what’s being printed and Karl is urging people not to buy the magazine because it’s untrue.”
Stefanovic’s management was considering whether it had any legal options at the time.
