KARL Stefanovic and Jasmine Yarbrough have held a commitment ceremony in Palm Beach today, bringing friends and family together to celebrate their love.
“It’s a commitment ceremony. It was lovely,” Stefanovic, 43, said tonight.
The couple — Today host Karl and model and shoe designer Jasmine, 34 — have been flaunting her giant engagement ring for the past six weeks.
The commitment ceremony was an intimate affair, with only family invited, including Stefanovic’s two children Ava, 12 and River, 10 to his first wife of 21 years, Cassandra Thorburn. It is understood his oldest son Jackson, 18, did not attend.
Yarbrough’s family, including sister Jade and parents Cheryl and Bob, were in attendance at the luxury residence, decorated with white flowers for the day.
Guests, including Stefanovic’s younger brother Peter, were dressed in cocktail attire for the daytime party, which was hurriedly moved indoors after paparazzi were spotted circling overhead in a helicopter.
The $13 million compound is owned by Rob Rankin, a lieutenant of James Packer and former chairman of Crown Resorts, and his wife Paula and is frequently used to host the swankiest parties in Palm Beach.
Victoria Buchan, Nine’s director of publicity and communications confirmed the union to News Corp Australia, offering the network’s congratulations: “Everyone at Nine wishes Karl and Jasmine happiness and good health for the future.”
It is unclear if the Today show host’s divorce has been finalised, but Stefanovic and his new bride celebrated their engagement at a party thrown at the Double Bay home of his brother Peter and his wife, Sylvia Jeffreys on January 20.
It is believed Karl had proposed on bended knee just days earlier, on January 14 during a five-star luxury holiday at Fiji’s private Kokomo Island.
Their summer of love continued with Karl throwing his new beloved a lavish 34th birthday bash lasting nine hours at their new rented home on January 27, where friends commented on “the amazing rock” she was wearing on wedding ring finger.
Her dazzling diamond engagement ring has been like a beacon for paparazzi.
Yarbrough’s last Instagram post three days saw the Mara and Mine shoe designer celebrating the wedding in Hawaii of an industry friend, Vanessa Gilbert, the sister of fashion designer Rachel Gilbert.
A besotted Karl has spoken affectionately of his new ‘wife’ telling The Daily Telegraph in October last year: “There’s a lot of love in my life. She’s a very strong and passionate person.”
He has been adamant the couple met on a Sydney party boat in December 2016, just months after separating from Thorburn.
In an interview with Stellar magazine, he said the new couple had been “taking things really, really slowly”.
“I certainly did not expect to meet someone five months after I broke up with my wife. That was not planned, I did not know her before.”
His wife, a former ABC TV journalist, reacted bitterly to news of his new relationship, telling Woman’s Day her ex was “dead to me” in the wake of their acrimonious separation.
“The children still have a father but I don’t have a husband. He really is dead to me and no, we won’t ever be friends again,” she said.
Stefanovic split from his first wife Cassandra Thorburn broke up in mid-2016 after 21 years of marriage and share three children together.
Commitment ceremonies, most famously seen in Married At First Sight, often involve the exchange of vows and rings although they are not legally binding.
