JESSICA Marais has been released from The Sydney Clinic following her participation in a four-week inpatient program.
The Packed To The Rafters and The Wrong Girl star was released last Tuesday after checking herself into the clinic, better known in psychiatric circles as the Bronte Clinic, in June to address ongoing health issues.
The actor wound up her treatment following the Nine Network’s announcement — somewhat hastily on July 2 while the actress was still a patient at the facility — that it had signed her to its forthcoming drama series, Bad Mothers, which heads into production in upcoming weeks with filming set to start in October.
Nine is the key financial partner in the eight-episode debut series which is co-produced by Screen Australia and production company Jungle and screens on Nine next year.
Marais will star opposite her Love Child co-star Mandy McElhinney and Wolf Creek’s Jessica Tovey in the series which tells the story of a group of modern mothers with, according to the press release, “dirty little secrets” hidden “behind the pristine picket fence”.

Marais is mother to six-year-old daughter Scout Edie, her daughter with former partner actor James Stewart who she met on the set of Packed To The Rafters and now is a regular on Home And Away.
Stewart has played a decisive role in raising Scout and supported Marais during her recent hospital stint by taking the child to the clinic to visit her mother.
Meanwhile 33-year-old Marais, who has admitted a long history of bipolarism, continues her treatment at the Bronte Clinic as an outpatient.
Sources close to Marais said the actor plans to complement her outpatient treatment with her renewed religious devotion to the Hillsong Church.
“She likes to think of herself as a devout member of the Hillsong congregation and very much enjoys the musical interaction at church,” said the source.
“Hopefully Jess now has enough support strategies in place to help her through the production shoot that is ahead.”
