BILLIONAIRE James Packer is expected to miss his mother’s 80th birthday party when family matriarch Roslyn celebrates the important milestone later this month.
Despite having previously told sources he did not expect to return to Australia until the opening of his Crown Sydney casino in Barangaroo, post 2020, insiders last week said family members had hoped to persuade him to make an exception for his mother’s birthday.
The event will be celebrated at a private party at chef Matt Moran’s Chiswick restaurant in Woollahra on October 31.

PACKER’S ADMIRAL SETS SAIL MINUS OBLIGATIONS
In March this year Ros Packer dropped everything to dash to her son’s side when he checked himself into a Boston hospital for treatment for what a spokesman then described as mental health issues, including depression.
It was a requirement of his hospitalisation that family members participate in the recovery program.
With Packer estranged from his only sister Gretel, after she forced his hand on the division of their wealth, it was up to Ros to fly to be with Packer in Boston for an extended stay.
Packer also skipped Gretel’s 50th birthday celebrations at Chiswick in September 2016.
Guests at Ros’s party are expected to include her grandchildren by Gretel and her best friends Vicki Jones, Rowena Danziger,
Justin Miller, broadcaster Alan Jones, David Gonski, Will Vicars, members of the
Lowy family and members of the arts committees to whom she has been a generous benefactor.
