An Australian influencer’s home has been torched in what police have labelled a “suspicious” fire while she partied in Bali.
Caitlin Lyndon, known online as ‘fitmum’, was holidaying with friends on Sunday when emergency services were called to her home in Sandhurst about 2am.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze but Ms Lyndon’s home was badly damaged.
Victorian Police are investigating the incident, with reports two people were seen fleeing the scene in a dark-coloured car.
A car was found abandoned and on fire a short time later.
Lyndon, who has 84,000 followers on Instagram, was out at a nightclub in Bali when she received the news in the early hours and “literally fell to the floor”.
Lyndon, a mum-of-one, said she was struggling to comprehend that her home, according to investigators, had allegedly been deliberately targeted.
“I cannot fathom that somebody would do this to me,” Lyndon told The Daily Telegraph.
“Everyone has enemies … I think everyone pisses people off in every life, but I would never imagine having pissed people off enough to have your personal home lit on fire where you and your son’s belongings are.”
In a rant online after the incident Lyndon lashed out at the unknown alleged arsonists behind the attack, labelling them “f***ing rats”, but told the Telegraph she had “no one” in mind who she thought could be responsible.
“I guess Victoria Police are probably gonna find that out, so I’m gonna let them do their job,” she said.
In a statement, Victorian police confirmed an investigation into the blaze was underway and urged witnesses to come forward.
“An arson chemist is expected to attend the scene,” a spokesman said.
“Investigators are working to determine if the (house fire and vehicle fire) are linked.”
Lyndon had moved into the property only two months prior, but due to damage from the fire the home is now considered “uninhabitable”.
“I lost everything. People can hate and say I’m just in Bali and living life, this is the worst experience of my life,” Lyndon said.
“I will be going into emergency housing, which is my only option at the moment, but my main focus is to keep my son in routine … obviously, he’s lost all his toys.
“All I care about at the moment, to be honest is that (he) is safe.”
In her video posted to Instagram earlier, Lyndon said the devastation of telling her young son their house was gone was unbearable.
“When your baby sends you kisses after telling him everything is gone but mummy will make sure you have everything you need again and more!
“I’m so grateful my son and our dogs are safe … I can replace our furniture, our belongings, but our family I cannot.
“I’ve never wanted to hold my baby so tight in all my life. True friends’ and families’ colours are shown in times like this.
“I’m not afraid to cry and show you that I have f***ing emotions because you know what I worked my ass off to get to where I was, and even if I’ve lost everything, you’ve burnt it down and you’ve ruined my life. I will build my life again, but my son does not deserve this.”
Her focus now is to make sure her son knows “he is going to be okay.”
“I’m just so lost. You truly never appreciate the small things in life till everything you’ve got is gone.”
Lyndon expressed frustration and disbelief that her child had been caught in the crossfire of someone else’s agenda.
“I hope you watch this because karma’s going to be 10 times worse. I don’t need anything but my son. You keep my kid, you keep any kid out of any fing issues you have because this is just a f***ing joke.
“I actually can’t fathom that you would burn my house, all my son’s toys, all his clothes. You’re a weak dog. That’s how targeted this is.”
Lyndon said her home was fitted with CCTV, but the system was either disabled or tampered with prior to the attack.
With no clear starting point, Lyndon is trying to pick up the pieces of her life.
“I just don’t know where to start. And I live in the biggest Karen estate ever, so this is just grouse. I didn’t even think you could shut down CCTV so these c**ts are just dogs.”
Victoria Police have been contacted for comment.
