IN a deft diplomatic display, departing Myer ambassador Jennifer Hawkins lent her support to incoming Elyse Knowles and denied her departure was driven by a failure to reach a deal with the department store.
“All that speculation is hilarious,” the 34-year-old said.
“It is definitely the right time. It is not a flippant decision. I feel like I have experienced and done everything I can do with Myer. It is nice to step forward into a new chapter.”
Hawkins did her last show as the Face of Myer in Sydney last night.
Hawkins said she would now focus on her businesses and husband Jake Wall.
“I want to step into a new chapter with him, with personal things,” Hawkins said.
She said she was behind Knowles.
“I love Elyse,” she said. “There have been so many ambassadors … I have gotten on with all of them. There have been stories that wasn’t the case but that has never been true.”
