Invisible Boys – season two for hit Aussie TV show?

Invisible Boys has quickly become a cult favourite with fans around the world bingeing the Australian TV series. Is another season on the way?

Holden Sheppard talks personal challenges and inspirations

The man behind hit Aussie TV series Invisible Boys says a second season could be on the way.

Author Holden Sheppard said he had already finished writing the sequel to the book on which the series was based.

“I will be sharing details when I can about when it is coming out,” Sheppard said on the latest episode of the Mental As Anyone podcast.

“Everyone is asking obviously about a season two of the show and what is going to happen.

“It is too soon to say that, but all I can say is I have written a sequel novel that follows on the boys stories.”

Invisible Boys was the breakthrough novel, and subsequent Stan television series, set in Geraldton in Western Australia. It stars Joseph Zada, Ayden Calafiore, Zach Blampied and Joe Klocek in the coming-of-age story about sexuality in a remote city.

The series is based loosely on Sheppard’s own life. His third book, King of Dirt, is set for release in June.

“I feel like Invisible Boys is the little book that could kind of thing because it came out from an indie press based out of Perth.

“Most books have a three-month shelf life, and Invisible Boys had this really long tail and the sales kept going and going and then started rising. Over five years it has kept going and it has become an Australian bestseller – it wasn’t on the bestseller list, just over time has built up so much momentum and good word of mouth that people are hyped for it.”
