Dean Lewis’ ascension to the top of the charts has been so quick the muso has found it hard to keep on top of his many successes.

The first release of tickets for his November Summer Tour sold out in three minutes with a similar result the next day when new shows were added thanks to the global success of his hit, Be Alright.

“This is a whole different beast,” Lewis told Confidential, adding jokingly: “To put it into perspective, for my last show when my single Waves was out (in 2016), we did a show at Sydney’s Factory Theatre and it was on sale for like three months and we sold out the one show like a week before. And they bought a lot of industry tickets, they didn’t tell me that but I could see there was a big guest list.”

Lewis has sold out three shows at Sydney’s Metro Theatre — December 8, 12 and 13 — with a fourth show on sale today for the 21st of that month. He’s also added shows in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane.

“I literally can’t believe all these things keep happening,” he said. “It is like every day, we keep expecting it to stop and then you hear something else. It really is just crazy.”

Lewis found success late in comparison to the young singers making their way through the ranks of reality TV competitions.

He previously worked as a sound technician on TV shows, including Today, and signed to Universal Music a couple of years ago. At 30, his career has exploded with Be Alright sitting at the top of the ARIA Chart for the past two weeks and taking off globally, and as far afield as Guatemala and Fiji.

“You’ll also see something like for one day it will pop up on the charts in Guatemala or Fiji, which is really strange,” he said, again joking: “I am not sure they have a massive iTunes base over there. I don’t think you need to sell a huge amount of copies, but I will take it.”
