Surry Hills popular Humble Bakery has been declared to have the best finger buns in the whole of Australia.

The bakery was given the honour in Wotif’s Uniquely Aussie Awards, which aims to provide a guide to the best local gems around the country.

The public voted award found that Humble’s finger bun is far from its namesake, with the classic bun transformed into a gourmet treat thanks to the dried cranberries, golden raisins, currants, baby pink cream cheese frosting and a generous slab of butter from Coppertree Farm.

Co-owner Ben Millgate said what makes his Finger Buns so special is because of the nostalgic element it brings.

“We wanted to bring back the nostalgic joy you felt as a child when your parents would get you a finger bun from a small-town or local bakery. The Humble bun is special because it is a fresh take on the old classic with great produce and a slab of butter,” he said.

Bakers make the treat super early in the morning and they often sell out before midday.

“It’s an honour to be named the best finger bun in the Wotif Uniquely Aussie Awards. It’s great to have awards like this and bring attention to the things that are iconic and nostalgic to Australians,” adds Millgate.

Kenilworth Bakery in Queensland was named as having the best sausage roll.

While the other non food related winners includes The Terrace Rooftop Bar in Brisbane, which has the best Hotel Bar. Best Surf Club went to Henley Surf Life Saving Club, Henley Beach SA. Wineglass Bay Lookout, Freycinet TAS was awarded the Best Lookout Point and National Wool Museum in Geelong got the gong for Best Regional Museum.
