How Roxy’s ‘giveaway’ will cost you at least $10m

Roxy Jacenko opens up about "Roxy's Bootcamp" promotion nightmare

The Cronulla waterfront offered as the main prize in the ill-fated Roxy Jacenko-backed “house giveaway” is back on the market.

Three months after the ill-conceived Roxy’s Bootcamp promotion was abandoned – after the PR woman called in an administrator to clean up following the breakdown of relations between Jacenko and her Bootcamp co-directors Youssef Tleis and Kassim Alaouie – the men, who own the house, have relisted the luxury home.

Tleis last week confirmed the Dodson Ave property is being offered via an expressions of interest campaign by Ausrealty Sylvannia agent Michael Luck.

It comes a year after the men initially listed the four-bedroom property for auction in 2023, only to later withdrew it after failing to find a $10 million-plus buyer.

That withdrawal proved the catalyst for Tleis and Alaouie to go in search of a gun online promoter in the hope of realising a bigger payday with a “house giveaway” business plan.

The news of the house listing will likely rub salt into the wounds of the 7000-plus “house giveaway” entrants, among whom were some of Jacenko’s most faithful followers, who earlier this year forked out between $29 and $499 to enter the promotion, in which the house was listed as the main prize.

The house previously failed to find a $10 million-plus buyer.

The majority of entrants are yet to recoup their investment.

Tleis and Alaouie have repeatedly apologised for their part in the failed promotion – as has Jacenko – who drew early criticism after the venture failed to spell out the complicated terms and conditions.

In a moment of what might now be described as Adrian Portelli-inspired madness, this column has learned the trio hoped to emulate Portelli by offering a “chance” to win the house, as well as prizes of a $250,000 cash pool, a Birkin bag and a Rolex watch.

Portelli is a Melbourne promoter who runs a successful online shopping and rewards club and who this year made The Australian’s Richest 250 list with an estimated $1.03 billion fortune.

Members of Portelli’s club, LMCT+, are regularly offered the opportunity to enter giveaways for a “chance” to win expensive prizes including cars, boats and cash.

Fast car enthusiast Portelli’s profile was bolstered in 2023 when he splashed out $12.4 million on three properties featured on Nine’s The Block.

His Instagram followers include Kings Cross club owner John Ibrahim, Larry Emdur and Jackie “O” Henderson.

Emdur and “O” both interviewed Jacenko on their Seven and KIIS programs about the “house giveaway”.

The three-level Sutherland Shire home, called Zephyr, was originally bought by Tleis and Alaouie in 2020 for $3.36 million before construction company Dezcon redesigned it.

Overlooking Gunnamatta Bay, the pristine four-bedroom, five-bathroom house has been unoccupied since completion.
