The retirement of veteran 2GB broadcaster Ray Hadley and his wife Sophie will see the couple spend more time on the NSW Central Coast and on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
They plan to sell their northwest Sydney townhouse in the new year, but buy back near Castle Hill Country Club, the world class par-72 championship golf course.
It was only mid-last year when the couple secured what started out as their weekender when they spent around $2.75m on a five-bedroom home on the Bouddi Peninsula, 95kms north of Sydney.
The house has views across Brisbane Waters from the living, kitchen and dining spaces at the modern-style home.
It marked a return to The Central Coast for Hadley who had a beachfront at Toowoon Bay until 2016.
The popular 70-year-old Nine Radio talkback host, who retires from morning hosting duties Friday after 22 years, sold his longtime Dural home for $7.6m in June 2021 having been living on acreage since the mid-1990s.
Wife Sophie is credited as 2GB’s longest-serving employee.
The couple had married at Saddles, the gourmet eatery owned by his mate, adman John Singleton, set just off the M1 at Mt White in March 2021.
Their townhouse will go on the market in February with Jane Booty from Stone Real Estate.
Hadley has also had a Gold Coast bolthole since 2016.
The father of four, who worked seven days a week early in his career, has often given his radio audience updates on his seven grandchildren.
They are six years and younger.
He has described the grandchildren’s arrivals as “life-changing experiences.”
“They basically are my life,” he recently said. “I just adore them,” he said.
